USA: The Ultimate Summer Camp Packing List

09:00

Visa obtained, flights booked, health insurance... check, check and check! Everything's sorted, so... what now? Well, as the days tick down until I jet off to spend three months at a USA summer camp, I'm trying to be as prepared as possible. With that in mind, and through lots of research and help from friends and family, I've put together my ultimate summer camp packing list. Comment your suggestions below with anything I might have missed!

A printable PDF version of this packing list (see above) is available to download by clicking this link:

6 t-shirts
6 vest tops
2 long-sleeved tops
1 blouse/dressy top
5 pairs leggings
2 pairs jeans
1 pair tracksuit bottoms
4 pairs shorts
4 jumpers
 3 skirts of different lengths
 4 summer dresses
 1-2 formal/party dresses
2 weeks worth of underwear
2 weeks worth of socks
2 pairs tights
6 bras (inc. 1 sports bra)
1 pair cosy socks/slippers
3 pairs summer PJs
1 pair winter PJs
1 light dressing gown
 3 swimsuits/bikinis
1 caftan
1 warm coat
1 rain mac and travel-sized umbrella
1 pair wellies/rain boots
1 pair running shoes/trainers
1 pair plimsole-style trainers/everyday shoes
1 pair flipflops
1 pair sandals/wedges
1 pair heels/dressy shoes
 1 cap
 1 sunhat
 1 beanie
 1 pair of sunglasses
 1 backpack
 1 clutch/going out bag
Accessories/jewellery
 1 waterproof watch
As many plain white t-shirts as you can find (for tie-dyeing of course!)

Toiletries

 Toothbrush
Toothpaste
Electric toothbrush and charger
Travel-sized mouthwash
Floss
Hairbrush
Hairbands
Headbands
Hair accessories/bows (it's a kids' camp, everybody loves bows!)
Dry shampoo
Travel-sized shampoo
Travel-sized conditioner
Travel-sized shower gel
Moisturiser
Face masks
Nail polish
Nail polish remover
Roll-on deodorant
Disposable razors
Makeup remover
Cotton pads
Lipbalm
Nail clippers/scissors
Suncream
Aftersun
First-aid kit (keep in carry-on for flight emergencies)
Medicines
Tissues/wipes
Bug spray
Contact lenses/glasses cleaner
Makeup
Stain remover
The reasoning behind the travel-sized items is to save space in the suitcase, as it's likely they'll be an opportunity to purchase full-sized products in America.

Bedding/Linen

3 warm blankets
2 towels (1 bath, 1 beach!)
Laundry bag
Delicates bag
Sleeping bag (buy in the US)
Double check with your camp if bed linen will be provided.

Miscellaneous

Torch and batteries
Water bottle
 Drinking cup
Hot water bottle
Camera (I'm taking my Polaroid and extra film)
 Lanyard
 Stationery
Headphones
Electronics and chargers
US travel adapter
Extension lead
Portable charger (pack a couple, fully charged for emergencies)
 Books/Ebooks
Camp-specific items (for me, it's musical instruments and dancewear)
Travel pillow (memory foam is best!)
 Duck-tape (for labelling)
 Permanent/fabric marker (as above)
Something UK/country-themed (for 4th July celebrations)
Costume/fancy dress item(s)
All documents (and take photos of these too!)
Spare pair of clothes/underwear in carry-on luggage

If you made it through all of that, congrats! You're probably like me, frantically stressing about all the possible things you might need during your three-month stay at a summer camp. Or... you're my mother. Hi, mum.

Let me know what you're taking to camp and if you think I've missed anything!

Hannah xoxo
